South Korea on Monday announced 69 new cases of coronavirus according to Reuters and now stands at 7,314 according to data provided by Johns Hopkins CSSE. Government officials expressed optimism over the weekend that the rate of new infections was declining. Sunday’s announcement of 248 new cases was the fourth consecutive day of a declining number of new cases. Monday’s figure was a much larger drop that extended the streak to five days.
More than 100 countries have introduced travel restrictions for flights originating in South Korea reports CNA. This included a political spat with Japan last week.
