Nineteen people in France, all older and with pre-existing conditions, died after contracting the coronavirus. More than 1,000 infections have been reported by the French health authorities. French President Emmanuel Macron held an unplanned meeting on Sunday to examine the response the spread of the outbreak. Already at a level 2 coronavirus alert, French officials expect a definite rise to level 3 which may include limited public activities and restricted travel.
Three legislators from The National Assembly have contracted coronavirus. Reports suggest the outbreak currently is concentrated in the northern regions of the country around Oise and Haut-Rhin. “Schools, nurseries, and kindergartens will be shut for two weeks starting Monday,” in those areas.
